Shrewsbury International School Phnom Penh Welcomes Students and Parents During Admission Day

PHNOM PENH: Shrewsbury International School Phnom Penh held its admission day at Raffles Hotel on Saturday, 19 November, attracting a diversified presence of more than 100 distinguished guests, school founding governors, and parents, including their adorable children.

British Ambassador to Cambodia, Dominic Williams, was there to expound the virtues of a British Education, especially when provided by an institution such as the Shrewsbury school.

Founding Principal, Toby Waterson, and Deputy Principal Early Years, Charlotte Thomas, spoke convincingly about what sets Shrewsbury’s educational experience apart from anything else in Cambodia at present, offering an education 'like no other.' Principal Waterson also gave a compelling case as to why boarding, which will be established at Shrewsbury International School Phnom Penh, is an attractive option for families who had not considered it for their children before.

“Who would not want an education like this for their child? Access to an amazing diverse co-curricular program, amazing facilities, world-leading teaching and learning and ambitious approaches to securing each child’s best outcomes," said Waterson.

The school offers and has received strong demand for scholarships worth a total value of US $500,000, which will provide opportunities to young talents to receive the best education in Cambodia. Diversified and respectful of cultural difference, Shrewsbury International School Phnom Penh attracts 20% of superior and gifted students from 9 different nationalities.

Before the admission day event ended, attendees had a chance to express their positive feedback and thoughts regarding the Shrewsbury curriculum, the offered scholarships, and other insightful information that was shared by the school.

Co-founder and CEO, Charles Wong, added a heartfelt call to parents to do all they could to ensure their children received all the support possible to enable them to recognize and fulfil their potential.

The deadline for school applications and scholarships is 28 November 2022. The assessment and interview process will begin on the first week of December, with the announcement of the final results on 12 December 2022.

Early Years is now open at Shrewsbury International School Phnom Penh's Flatiron location in Phnom Penh City Centre (for children aged two to five years old). The main campus of the school is scheduled to open in September 2024 in the city's northern district of Chroy Changvar. The main campus will include primary and secondary school students as well as boarding facilities.
